Our Fall 2023 Judges List
Katerina MichtchenkoEkaterina has more than twenty-five years of teaching and competing experience and is a Canadian Closed Champion in the Professional American Smooth Division. She is a 3-times Canadian Representative at the World Professional Latin and Showcase Championships and finalist of the World Professional Showcase Championship. Currently, she is the director and coach of youth DanceSport group “Fiesta Dancesport Club”, which has produced Canadian Junior Latin and Youth 10-dance Champions. Ekaterina also holds Canadian DanceSport Federation Adjudicators Licenses (A+,B+) with the experience of officiating DanceSport competitions in and out of Canada.

Kyryl DudchenkoKyryl started ballroom dancing when he was 7 years old in Ukraine. He underwent extensive training with different distinguished teachers and coaches in both Latin American and Modern/ standard programs as well as supplementary basic training in ballet. He has competed in numerous competitions all over Eastern and Western Europe as well as in North America, at fi rst representing Ukraine and then British Columbia, on international and local DanceSport arena. Furthermore, Kyryl also participated in the Canada-wide aired TV show, Dancing at the Palais. Since moving to Canada in 2000 and until turning professional Kyryl maintained highest amateur ranking position in British Columbia. In 2002 Kyryl became professional and since then teaching and coaching competitors (kids, teenagers and seniors) in both Latin and Standard divisions.

Michel GuimondMichel started ballroom dancing in Laval, QC and competed as a junior amateur in 1969. He became a professional competitor in 1980. Now you can find Michel teaching at the Broadway Ballroom. He has been appointed Canadian Dancesport Federation’s National Scrutineer Examiner in the past year. He has conceived a Scrutineer Training Program. For the past 12 years, he’s been teaching Master Class in Partnering Skills at Capilano University for the Musical Theatre program and the Actors for Screen and Stage program. He has been quite often Chairman of Judges in Canadian Closed Amateur and Professional Championships in the past 25 years and a qualified International Adjudicator. |
Angel ChuAngel Chu grew up here in Vancouver, Canada and was part of the UBC Dance Club. After graduating from UBC, her love for dance continued. She became the National 10 Dance Champions of Taiwan and were named as the representative to the World Championship. Angel is certified as a qualified Professional Latin-American and Ballroom Dance Teacher as well as International Adjudicator. |
Roxana SamoilaAn accomplished dancer and a successful instructor with over 25 years of experience, Roxana is a holder of a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Sports. She is also a CDF certified instructor and an adjudicator for both International & American Styles. Roxana’s dancing expertise expands well over the limits of dancesport, into the area of rhythmic gymnastics, jazz & ballet. Together with her husband, Peter Samoila own Unique Dance, a dance school that has been awarded a diploma of excellence by Consulate General of Romania in recognition of an outstanding record of accomplishments beautifully demonstrated over the years. Her professional career, past and present is a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to excellence. |
Eric CatyEric is a former Open North American Ten-Dance Champion, and has traveled the world competing at some of the world’s most prestigious dance events including the Blackpool Dance Festival. Eric is a certified National Championship Adjudicator (NCA). Eric has represented Canada at many World Salsa Championships and ranked as high as 4 th in the World. He was a featured choreographer on all the seasons of So You Think You Can Dance CANADA, and was a featured dancer on the DANCING WITH THE STARS tour stop in Calgary. Eric coaches many of Alberta's top professional and amateur couples including some national and World Champions. Eric is the co-director of Salsa Rica Dance Company, the co-producer of the Calgary International Salsa Congress, and the Edmonton Gala. |
Oksana LatyninaOksana has been dancing ever since she can remember. Has more than 30 years' experience as a competitor and teacher. Classically trained in Ballet, she started to dance in Kazakhstan and graduated from professional ballet school. She is a coach of Ballet and Ballroom Dance at Champs International Skating of BC. Passionate about training both, young and adult dancers, Oksana known in dance community for her commitment to excellence in dance technique and physical development of the body. |
