Security Special Notice


Due to current world events, security at Beth Israel will be increased to help ensure the safety of all guests. Please read below for the new security procedures for smooth entry into the facility.

Underground Parking

There will still be free underground parking avilable to all spectators and competitors. The parkade gate will remain closed at all times with a security guard present. Plese tell the guard you are attending the Sunday Funday dance competition for entrance into the parkade.

Street Entrance

We will have security present at all entrances. Plese tell the guard you are attending the Sunday Funday dance competition for entrance into the venue.

Our Summer 2024 Judges List

 

Barbara Child

Barbara Child, originally from London, England, first started dancing as a teen, becoming a member of one of the top UK Latin dance teams at that time. This highly successful team danced together for five years providing the opportunity to its members to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe for competitions & shows. She became an avid competitor enjoying favourable results.

After moving to Canada she resumed competitive dancing as an amateur before turning Professional to teach and compete in both Standard and Latin. A Founding Member of Canadian Dancesport Federation. Currently teaching, training, and judging across Canada.

 

Kim Donaghy

Kimberly Donaghy

Kimberly has been a Professional Ballroom Dance Instructor since 1980. For 18 of those years she was the Professional Instructor for the University of Calgary Ballroom Dance Club. She also taught dance for the Phys Ed departments at many Senior and Junior High Schools in the City of Calgary. As a competitor she participated in both American and International Style. Her focus was International Latin where she was a Semi-Finalists at the Canadian Closed Championships. In 2005 she was the World Champion in the Diamond Showcase Division at the World Country and Western Dance Championships in Nashville. Kim is very involved with adjudicating dance competitions in Canada and the United States. She is a Certified A+B+C+D+ Adjudicator with the CDF. She is currently teaching BURLESQUERCISE and is also a certified Zumba instructor.

 

Katerina Michtchenko

Katerina Michtchenko

Ekaterina has more than twenty-five years of teaching and competing experience and is a Canadian Closed Champion in the Professional American Smooth Division. She is a 3-times Canadian Representative at the World Professional Latin and Showcase Championships and finalist of the World Professional Showcase Championship. Currently, she is the director and coach of youth DanceSport group “Fiesta Dancesport Club”, which has produced Canadian Junior Latin and Youth 10-dance Champions. Ekaterina also holds Canadian DanceSport Federation Adjudicators Licenses (A+,B+) with the experience of officiating DanceSport competitions in and out of Canada.

 

Kyryl Dudchenko

Kyryl Dudchenko

Kyryl started ballroom dancing when he was 7 years old in Ukraine. He underwent extensive training with different distinguished teachers and coaches in both Latin American and Modern/ standard programs as well as supplementary basic training in ballet. He has competed in numerous competitions all over Eastern and Western Europe as well as in North America, at fi rst representing Ukraine and then British Columbia, on international and local DanceSport arena. Furthermore, Kyryl also participated in the Canada-wide aired TV show, Dancing at the Palais.

Since moving to Canada in 2000 and until turning professional Kyryl maintained highest amateur ranking position in British Columbia. In 2002 Kyryl became professional and since then teaching and coaching competitors (kids, teenagers and seniors) in both Latin and Standard divisions.

 

Garry Foster

Garry Foster

Garry started his passion of ballroom dancing at the tender age of seven in Birmingham United Kingdom. From beginner group classes, to private lessons, to partners, he passion to compete. Garry was very successful in winning several local and national titles throughout the UK in both the juvenile and junior categories. After joining the adult amateur ranks at sixteen, his career took off. Making the finals in all major events, being featured regularly on the popular television series Come Dancing, and representing his country in the European, World Standard and World Ten Dance Championships.

In 1997, Garry turned professional and currently holds licentiate/member in both Standard and Latin and also holds an international championship adjudicating licence. 1998 took Garry to Hong Kong, joining a very prolific dancing school (later to become a partner), and then to have his own dance school. He continues to coach from beginner to the highest level of amateur, pro-am and professional, many of whom have gone on to great success. Despite remaining a Hong Kong resident Garry continues to travel extensively within Asia, Europe and North America to pass on his knowledge and expertise.

 

Angel Chu

Angel Chu grew up here in Vancouver, Canada and was part of the UBC Dance Club. After graduating from UBC, her love for dance continued. She became the National 10 Dance Champions of Taiwan and were named as the representative to the World Championship.

Angel is certified as a qualified Professional Latin-American and Ballroom Dance Teacher as well as International Adjudicator.

Oksana Latynina

Oksana has been dancing ever since she can remember. Has more than 30 years' experience as a competitor and teacher.

Classically trained in Ballet, she started to dance in Kazakhstan and graduated from professional ballet school. She is a coach of Ballet and Ballroom Dance at Champs International Skating of BC. Passionate about training both, young and adult dancers, Oksana known in dance community for her commitment to excellence in dance technique and physical development of the body.
